SYLLABUS (subject to change)

Week 1: Why “Standard British Accent” doesn’t exist; What is Received Pronunciation?; Cultural Context; Review Spectrum of Common English Accents; Old Fashioned RP Oral Posture

Week 2: Prosody(intonation) and Pronunciation.

Weeks 3: Pronunciation: Vowels & Consonants; Tongue Twisters, Conversation, etc.

Week 4: Monologue work; Conversation; Introduce Modern RP Sounds.

Week 5: Review Modern RP; Monologue/scene work, etc.

WHEN (all class times in PACIFIC STANDARD TIME):

TUESDAYS 3pm-6pm PST (6pm-9pm EST) (Jan 30th, Feb 6th, Feb 13th, Feb 20th, Feb 27th)

WHERE: ZOOM!

FOCUS: MONOLOGUES/DREAM ROLE SIDES: Final selection is up to the performer. Keri is happy to weigh in.

BIPOC SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Update: **There are limited scholarship funds at this time, but you are still welcome to apply.** Because of the generosity of the community, the BIPOC Scholarship Fund has sponsored 31 artists to take this course. The goal is to make the fund ongoing to provide continuous access to training. You can donate to the General Fund, OR be a Sponsor of full tuition, with the scholarship in your name. **I match all donations, so only $200 needs to be raised for each performer to attend. GUIDELINES:

Cost: $20 per class.

Duration: 1 hour

Participants: minimum of 4 people to hold class (coordinate with your classmates in advance if you like!). *If fewer than 4 sign-up you will be notified at least 3 hours in advance that class will not be taking place. Payments will be applied to a future session.

Pre-Requisite: must be an Alum of the 4-Week British Accent Intensive.

Where: Hollywood - IN PERSON!

When: Friday, July 28th at 9:30am! Picketing at Paramount at 10:30!

CANCELLATION and PAYMENT POLICY

Payment:

Private Sessions: Payment due at time of services rendered.

Multi-Session Private or Group Intensives: Payment due for entire Intensive one week prior to Session #1.

1-Day Intensive: Payment due 24 hours in advance.

Payment Method: Venmo preferred. Cash or check by request only and at the discretion of the instructor. PayPal is only acceptable if the client specifically requests this method and *agrees to select the "Friends and Family" option; otherwise PayPal takes a percentage of the money for themselves, and the client will be responsible to then make up the difference.

Rescheduling/Canceling:

Private Sessions: If a client wishes to cancel or reschedule 24 hours or more before the scheduled lesson, they must contact Keri immediately to make alternate arrangements. If a client wishes to cancel or reschedule less than 24 hours prior to the start of the scheduled appointment or intensive, or is a no-show, payment is due in full before the start of the originally scheduled lesson, payable immediately via Venmo: @keri-safran.
